Day 3

Hello everyone,

In unit 3 we focus on behaviour.  There are readings and visual resources, as well as, some fun online activities.

Looking back to some of the answers in Unit one – for those who mentioned pawing:  Here is an interesting article from the horse.com. This pawing is not impatience (such as when you take too long to find the treat bag!).  I hope you find this an interesting read!

I especially appreciate the quote:

“Horses seldom do something that doesn’t have a purpose,” said Katherine Houpt, VMD, PhD, Dipl. ACVB, professor emerita at Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in Ithaca, New York. “And that purpose isn’t to be annoying!”

Does this article make you want to add comments to your original post?  Go for it!

Another great discussion emerging is on trail horse behaviour displaying biting and kicking.  Thanks Hailey!  We are looking for more thoughts and shared experiences from the group – check out this post.

Just a reminder to click on the “Mark Lesson Complete” button at the end of each section.  This will allow you print the certificate at the end of the course.

Great stuff sharing your experiences as well as what you are learning!

Thank you for filling in the titles on your discussion posts!  As more people join this course it will make it easy to find posts and keep chatting in the ones you are most curious about.
