If you are responsible for a horse, it is important to stay current and always be open to learning! A pioneer in online equine education, Equine Guelph offers flexible programs for everyone.

In addition to our short courses available on The Horse Portal, we offer university-accredited, continuing education programs (12-week online courses), delivered through a partnership between Equine Guelph and the University of Guelph’s Centre for Open Learning and Educational Support.

Take one course or 20!  Whether you’re working towards completion of a certificate or diploma program or simply interested in taking a course that speaks to you, our 12-week online courses offer more in-depth study for the horse enthusiast and owner. The courses are offered three times a year: September, January and May. Enjoy flexibility and go online anytime, but expect to invest about 10 – 14 hours of time each week.

Equine Studies Diploma

Requirements: 10 online courses including 6 core & 4 elective

Comprehensive course of study suitable for those interested in a career in the equine industry Will augment the resumes of those who have been in the industry Will provide a foundation for those just entering the industry.

Equine Science Certificate

Requirements: 6 online courses including 4 core & 2 elective

Designed to help you improve the management and welfare of horses in the industry Courses based on scientific research and are presented in a practical format, making it easy for you to directly apply what you have learned to the health and performance of your horse.

Equine Business Management Certificate

Requirements: 6 online courses including 5 core & 1 elective

For anyone interested in working in the business and management aspects of the equine industry You will learn the tools necessary to achieve your goal of a successful equine business.

Equine Welfare Certificate

Requirements: 6 online courses including 4 core & 2 elective

Offered by the University of Guelph Ridgetown Campus, Equine Guelph and the Centre for Open Learning and Educational Support Designed for veterinary technician graduates wanting to specialize in the equine industry Also suitable for students who have an interest in advancing their knowledge in equine health, nutrition, behaviour and functional anatomy.

Note: Equestrian Canada recognizes Equine Guelph courses as qualifying for credit on the Professional Development Grid for both Western and English Coaches.
