Welcome to Gut Health
Welcome everyone to the Gut Health Course!
I’m your facilitator Jen and will be with you for the next two weeks while we explore the amazing system that is the equine gastrointestinal tract (GIT). We’ll learn about what it is, how things can go wrong, AND what we can do to prevent or deal with problems that may arise!
Please use the discussion board to introduce yourself to your classmates! Let us know where you’re from and some of your horsey background.
I’d also like to introduce our Guest Expert this week Dr. Wendy Pearson!
Dr. Person is a Professor in the Department of Animal Biosciences in the Ontario Agricultural College. Her work involves researching various aspects of equine physiology and some of the pioneering research on “leaky gut” in horses has come from her lab! Dr. Pearson’s research also focuses on equine nutrition and nutraceutical supplements.
Check out this introductory video about Dr. Pearson and her research from the Department of Animal Biosciences: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1Yo8uFIa98
Feel free to start posting any questions in the discussion board that you might have for Dr. Pearson!
