Welcome to Week 2 of the OEEEP course

Good morning everyone and welcome to week 2 of the Ontario Equine Education and Employment Program, where we are learning about the basics of horses and their care in preparation for a future career in the horse industry.  You have embarked on a unique way to enter the horse industry through a guided education and training program, followed by a mentorship program to gain experience along with your knowledge.  Often people end up just starting out as a caretaker and we pick up bits of knowledge here and there as you go along.  This may work well in some cases when you have a very knowledgeable mentor who is dedicated to helping you learn, but it can be a very effective way to develop knowledge through education along with the experiential.  That is why this is a combined program where knowledge and experience will be gained.

This week, your educational pathway continues by working towards completing Unit 1 The Horse, so check your progress to ensure that you are going to plan out enough time to complete the rest of the Unit 1 activities by the end of this week, including your quizzes for Unit 1 by Sunday night.  Remember that Cameron and I are here to help you through this course, so make sure you use the Discussion Forums to deepen your understanding and the Questions for Instructors forum for any questions that you might have.  We are here to support you, so do not hesitate to reach out to us!
