NSEF Scotia Series Foundations Judge Course

Registration is Closed

Official recruitment and training is vital to the sustainability of our sport especially at the entry level.  The goal of NSEF Scotia Series Officials Program is to provide opportunities for members across the province to be trained and be recognized as a Scotia Series Official.

There are two types of officials:

  1. Scotia Series Foundations Judge, and
  2. Scotia Series Discipline-Specific Judge

Scotia Series Foundations Judge Training

Developed to be completed at your own pace, this course provides one of several prerequisites and training required to receive recognition as a Foundations Judge.

Registration to access the online course closes on July 2nd, 2022. Once registered, you have access to the portal for 1 year.

This course covers the basics of all Scotia Series Divisions.  Each course section includes an overview of the classes within the division; the class procedure; and basic scoring information.

The following are the main sections of the course:

  • Introduction to the NSEF Scotia Series Officials Program
  • Western Performance Division
  • Western Speed Division
  • Showmanship Division
  • English Flat Division
  • Hunter Division
  • Hunt Seat Equitation Over Fences
  • Jumper Division
  • Basic Introduction into Course Design
  • Dressage Division
  • Pleasure Driving Division
  • Maritime Bred Division

Time Commitment:

  • Work at your own pace within the pre-determined course time-line
  • 25 hours of videos plus additional reading
  • Course portal is available 24/7
  • All materials must be completed before the course end date.
  • Course is entirely online

  • 19 years of age or older

Course Support

Certificate of Course Completion

Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive a Course Completion Certificate from Equine Guelph.

This certificate will provide proof of completion of the Scotia Series Foundations Judge course and evaluation – one of several prerequisites and training required to receive recognition as a Scotia Series Foundations Judge.  Upon receipt of your course completion certificate, NSEF will assist you with fulfilling other program requirements.

Continuing Education Credits/Professional Development:

  • NCCP Coach/Instructor Professional Development Points (3 points)
